Campanula garganica 'Dickson's Gold', Adriatic Bellflower, Campanula garganica 'Aurea', Violet flowers, Purple flowers, Lavender flowers, groundcover

Noted for its unique foliage, Campanula garganica ‘Dickson’s Gold’ (Adriatic Bellflower) is a low-growing, clump-forming perennial forming a dense and attractive mound of bright golden-yellow, heart-shaped, toothed leaves. In late spring to early summer, loose clusters of starry, lavender-blue flowers bloom in such quantities that they nearly cover the entire plant. Evergreen in mild winter areas, this Adriatic Bellflower is perfect for border fronts, rock gardens or as a ground cover.

  • Grows up to 3-6 in. tall (7-15 cm) and 6-18 in. across (15-45 cm). This plant spreads aggressively in optimum growing conditions.
  • Thrives in full sun or part shade, in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils. Best golden foliage color is generally obtained in part shade. Needs regular moisture!
  • Ideal for banks and slopes, garden edging, cottage gardens, city gardens, rock gardens or containers. Keep it away from delicate plants that could be accidentally smothered.
  • Easy to grow and low care perennial. May be affected by slugs and snails or powdery mildew.
  • Divide in spring or autumn; basal stem cuttings inserted in gritty compost can be taken in late spring or early summer
