One of the most deservedly popular of all Bellflowers, award-winning Campanula portenschlagiana (Dalmatian Bellflower) is a very vigorous, low-growing perennial forming evergreen mounds of flaring, bell-shaped, deep lavender flowers, 1 in. across (2 cm). Blooming freely in early to late summer, the abundant flowers are borne on branching stems above a spreading rosette of tiny, heart-shaped, mid-green leaves. This charming Dalmatian Bellflower is perfect for rock gardens, cascading over walls or raised beds. It will grow in crevices of a wall with a wonderful effect. Wonderful groundcover too!

  • Winner of the Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society.
  • Grows up to 8-12 in. tall (20-30 cm) and 24-36 in. across (60-90 cm).
  • Thrives in full sun or part shade, in average, medium, well-drained soils. Prefers part shade in warmer climates.
  • Ideal for garden edging, groundcover, cottage gardens, city gardens, rock gardens or containers. Keep it away from delicate plants that could be accidentally smothered.
  • Easy to grow, virtually disease and pest free, this low care perennial is also rabbit resistant.
  • Propagate by seed or basal cuttings
  • Native to Southern Europe
