Caryopteris incana ‘Jason’ Sunshine Blue® (Bluebeard) is a small, deciduous shrub of upright and compact habit with fragrant amethyst blue flowers from late summer to early fall. Attractive to butterflies, bees and other beneficial insects, the eye-catching flowers contrast nicely with the bright golden-yellow foliage of ovate, coarsely toothed, aromatic leaves. Valued for its late season blossoms when few other shrubs are in bloom, this easy care shrub adds a splash of bright color to the sunny perennial or shrub borders.

  • Grows up to 30-36 in. tall and wide (75-90 cm).
  • A full sun lover, this plant is easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils. Drought tolerant once established. Intolerant of wet, poorly-drained soils.
  • Perfect choice for perennial borders, shrub borders, butterfly gardens.
  • Attracts butterflies, bees and other beneficial insects but is deer resistant.
  • Virtually pest free. Watch for capsid bug
  • Very little maintenance is needed. Prune stems back hard in late winter to early spring to promote vigorous new stem growth.
