Crinum procerum var. splendens (Queen Emma Lily) is a bulbous perennial boasting huge clusters of deliciously scented, lily-looking, pink and white striped flowers adorned with remarkably long protruding stamens. Blooming in fall, the blossoms rise atop leafless scapes, well above the striking foliage clump of evergreen, upright, rich burgundy leaves, up to 4 ft. long (120 cm). Bold and beautiful, Queen Emma Lily adds flare to borders with its seductive purple foliage set against radiant sprays of pink flowers.

  • Grows up to 3-4 ft. tall (90-120 cm) and 4-6 ft. wide (120-180 cm).
  • Performs best in full sun in moist, organically rich, well-drained soil. Best growth occurs in full sun, but some light shade is appreciated during the heat of the day in hot summer areas.
  • Excellent choice for moist areas of the garden, near ponds and streams.
  • Reliable, easy to grow, generally disease and pest-free. However, watch out for slugs and snails or leaf scorch.
  • Native to tropical Asia.
  • Ingestion may cause mild stomach upset.
