Fast-growing, Eucalyptus perriniana (Spinning Gum) is a small evergreen tree or large shrub of open, spreading habit adorned with smooth bark, flaking in ribbons, off-white, gray, or green. Rich with a sweet, menthol-like fragrance, the aromatic foliage is rounded bluish-green when juvenile, lance-shaped, pendulous, and silver-green when adult. In summer, abundant clusters of 3 creamy-white flowers are borne amongst the foliage. This Eucalyptus makes a lovely specimen tree. Prized by florists, the stems with juvenile leaves are frequently used in flower arrangements.

  • Grows up to 20-30 ft. tall (6-9 m) and 15-20 ft. wide (4-6 m).
  • Performs best in full sun in average to moderately fertile, slightly acidic soil that does not dry out. Protect from cold, drying winds. Tolerates light shade and poor soils.
  • Easy to grow, easy to care for.
  • Watch for eucalyptus sucker, silver leaf, and oedema.
  • Propagate by seed in spring or summer.
  • Toxic to dogs, toxic to cats, toxic to horses.
  • Native to southeastern Australia.
