Lonicera ligustrina ‘Lemon Beauty’ (Box Honeysuckle) is a dense, evergreen or semi-evergreen shrub of mounded habit with a luminous variegated foliage of small, ovate, glossy dark green leaves adorned with lemon and chartreuse edges. Tiny cream flowers appear in spring, which are followed in fall by sparse pale purple berries. Fast-growing, this Box Honeysuckle is quite versatile. It may be used as a groundcover, as a shrub in mixed borders or as a beautiful hedge.

  • Grows up to 3-6 ft. tall and wide (90-180 cm).
  • A full sun to part shade lover, this plant is best grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils. Best leaf color is obtained in full sun but tolerant of light shade. This plant is widely soil adaptable but thrives in fertile, moist soil that will not dry out in winter.
  • Excellent choice for mixed borders, hedges, edging, groundcover. Tolerant of salt spray, it is a nice addition to coastal gardens.
  • Low maintenance, this plant is generally pest and disease free. Watch for powdery mildew.
  • If grown as hedging or for topiary, clip any time from spring to fall. Otherwise, prune immediately after flowering.
  • Propagate by semi-ripe cuttings from late spring to late summer
