Oxalis crassipes ‘Cottage Pink’ (Oxalis Strawberry)

Oxalis Strawberry, Pink Wood Sorrel

Oxalis crassipes 'Cottage Pink', Oxalis Strawberry, Pink Wood Sorrel, Pink flowers, Foliage Plant

Oxalis crassipes ‘Cottage Pink’ (Oxalis Strawberry) is a charming perennial forming a lush mound of bright lime green, clover-like leaves. During the day the leaves open out to receive sunlight but at night they retract and fold up like small umbrellas, adding interest to the plant. From late spring until the first frost, the handsome foliage is topped by sprays of bright pink flowers that attract butterflies. Easy to grow and not invasive (this plant does not set viable seed), Cottage Pink is perfect for edging, rock gardens, or containers. A colorful addition with a long season of interest that is deer resistant.

  • Grows up to 6-10 in. tall (15-25 cm) and 10-14 in. wide (25-35 cm).
  • Easily grown in well-drained soils in part shade to full shade. Tolerates a wide range of conditions, including drought. Provide occasional to regular irrigation and avoid overwatering during the dormant period. If no supplemental water is provided during hot, dry summers, this plant may go dormant, but it will re-appear in the fall and rebloom.
  • Clumps may be divided in early spring.
  • Propagate by division.
  • Toxic to dogs, toxic to cats, toxic to horses.
