Particularly attractive, Picea pungens ‘Edith’ (Colorado Spruce) is an evergreen tree of conical habit with layered horizontal branches densely clothed in long, icy-blue to silver needles. The younger needles are more silver, while the older needles tend towards dark green. Providing year-round interest, this popular Colorado Spruce is regarded by many as one of the bluest cultivars of the species. It makes a terrific accent in most garden settings.

  • Winner of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society.
  • Grows up to 10 ft. tall (300 cm) and 8 ft. wide (240 cm) after 20 years.
  • Performs best in full sun in slightly acidic, moist, well-drained soils. Tolerant of dry sites, air pollution, and salt. Some drought tolerance once established. Generally prefers cool climates and will struggle in hot and humid climate areas.
  • Perfect as a distinctive specimen plant in the sunny border.
  • Watch for adelgids, aphids and conifer red spider mite. Easy to grow and easy to care for.
  • No pruning required.
  • Propagate by grafting or semi-hardwood cuttings.
