Globe Flower, Globeflower

Trollius Europaeus, Globe Flower, Globeflower, Shade plants, shade perennial, plants for shade, plants for wet soils, Yellow Flowers

Luminous in the late spring or early summer garden, Trollius europaeus (Globe Flower) is a charming upright perennial with large, bowl-shaped, lemon-yellow flowers resembling double buttercups. Borne on erect stalks, the attractive blooms are held high above a pillow of deeply divided, dark green leaves. This perennial thrives in damp environments where it creates a wonderful splash of color during its blooming season. Spectacular in mass plantings!

  • Easily grows up to 3 ft. tall (90 cm) and 18 in. wide (45 cm).
  • A full sun to part shade lover, Globe Flower is best grown in humusrich, consistently moist soils. This plant will thrive in boggy, poorly-drained soils. Dislikes dry soils and hot summers.
  • Globe Flower is very versatile and can be used in moist beds, borders, along streams, ponds, or in bog gardens
  • A low-maintenance plant that is fairly disease and pest free. Watch out for powdery mildew.
  • Cut back after flowering and apply a balanced liquid fertilizer to promote more blooms. Clumps may be easily divided in fall or early spring.
  • Deer and rabbit resistant!
  • Native wildflower of Europe and Western Asia.
