Pink Pom Poms Cercis, Eastern Redbud Pink Pom Poms
Noted for its double flowers, Cercis canadensis ‘Pink Pom Poms’ (Eastern Redbud) is a small deciduous tree with multiple seasons of interest. A profusion of unique, fully double, pink flowers held in clusters cover the bare branches in the spring, before the foliage emerges, creating a most dramatic display. The foliage of large, green, heart-shaped leaves turns brilliant shades of yellow in the fall. As the leaves drop, they reveal the pleasing silhouette of this eastern redbud. This plant will not produce seed pods. Easy to care for and great for smaller gardens. Developed by the JC Raulston Arboretum at NC State University.
Eastern Redbud (Cercis canadensis), along with Western Redbud (Cercis occidentalis), Chinese Redbud (Cercis chinensis), and Judas Tree (Cercis siliquastrum), belongs to the legume family Fabaceae, sharing its lineage with plants such as peas, beans, lupines, and orchid trees.
