Heuchera 'Wildberry' (Coral Bells)
Coral Bells 'Wildberry', Alum Root 'Wildberry', Coral Flower 'Wildberry', Dolce Series
Heuchera 'Wildberry' (Coral Bells) is a showy perennial sporting a lovely foliage of large, scalloped, intense purple leaves adorned with charcoal veins. The glossy foliage retains its purple color for much of the season. It combines extremely well with a wide range of colors and helps create wonderful plant combinations in gardens or containers.
- In midsummer, masses of small, bell-shaped, white flowers with rosy pink calyxes bloom on dark stems rising up to 28 in. (70 cm) above the evergreen foliage.
- This clump-forming perennial forms a basal mound, up to 10-14 in. tall (25-35 cm) with a spread of 16-20 in. (40-50 cm). This sturdy performer is not only easy to grow, but it also requires little maintenance and is virtually pest and disease free!
- Performs best in part shade, in rich, humusy, medium moisture, well-drained soils. If grown in full sun, make sure the soil remains consistently moist or the foliage might decline. Salt tolerant.
- It is attractive to bees, butterflies and hummingbirds.
- A spectacular addition to beds and borders, rock gardens, woodland gardens and is ideal as a groundcover, edger along paths or in containers. Fabulous when planted in groups!
- Divide clumps in spring every 3-4 years.
- Remove stems of faded flowers to promote additional bloom. Apply winter mulch after the ground freezes to help prevent root heaving.
