Aptly named, Hosta ‘Wiggles and Squiggles’ (Plantain Lily) is a small, low-growing perennial forming an attractive mound of long and incredibly wavy, thin, bright yellow leaves. The foliage is more chartreuse green in more shade: for the best yellow color, plant in a site with morning sun and afternoon shade. Racemes of lavender flowers appear on scapes reaching 18-24 in. (45-60 cm) in midsummer. Moderately fast-growing, this small hosta is perfect at the front of a border, as an edging, or in a patio container.

  • Grows up to 8-10 in. tall (20-25 cm) and 24 in. wide (60 cm).
  • Performs best in part shade to full shade in fertile, moist, well-drained soils. Shelter from cold, dry winds.
  • This foliage plant is perfect for the shade garden, mixed with other perennials in beds and borders, city gardens, cottage gardens, or containers. Great for edging, as a groundcover, or underplanting shrubs and roses.
  • Watch for slugs and snails, which could damage the attractive foliage.
  • Cut off the stems after blooming to encourage the plant’s growth. Discolored leaves should be trimmed back to the ground.
  • Propagate by division in early spring or late summer.
  • Toxic to dogs, toxic to cats, toxic to horses.
