Chinese Juniper 'Saybrook Gold', Juniperus chinensis 'Saybrook Gold'
Attractive year-round, Juniperus × pfitzeriana 'Saybrook Gold' (Chinese Juniper) is a low-growing, evergreen shrub of spreading habit with gracefully arching branches clothed with needle-like, bright golden yellow foliage. The foliage becomes bronze-yellow in winter. The new growth is soft to the touch, while the older growth is quite prickly. Valued for its decorative effect, this small Juniper makes a wonderful specimen plant, ground cover, or a low hedge.
- Grows up to 2-3 ft. tall (60-90 cm) and 5-6 ft. wide (120-180 cm).
- A full sun lover, this plant is easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils. Tolerates a wide range of soils including clay soils. Drought tolerant once established. Intolerant of wet soils.
- Perfect as a specimen plant or ground cover. Great for rock gardens, coastal gardens, foundation plantings, or as low hedges.
- Low maintenance, no pruning required.
- Propagate by semi-hardwood cuttings
