Noted for its long-blooming season, Kalimeris incisa ‘Madiva’ (Japanese Aster) is a compact, clump-forming perennial boasting a profusion of daisy-like, pale purple flowers, 1 in. across (2.5 cm), with a golden center. Blooming from early summer to early fall, the starry flowers are so abundant that they literally blanket the plant and cover the foliage mound of oblong, dark green leaves. Ideal to add a splash of color in the summer garden, this eye-catching beauty is terrific towards the front of a sunny border. Drought tolerant once established, it performs well in hot and humid summers.

  • Typically grows up to 18-24 in. tall and wide (45-60 cm). Plants may self-seed when happy.
  • Thrives in full sun in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils. Tolerates part shade but best flower production in full sun. Tolerates both moist and dry conditions.
  • A vital ingredient of borders, cottage gardens or prairies and meadows
  • Generally pest free. Keep an eye out for powdery mildews.
  • Cut down to ground level once flowering has finished, to encourage a possible fall rebloom. Propagate by division.
