Crabapple Ruby Tears™, Crab Apple Ruby Tears™, Malus 'Bailears' PP22001
Malus Ruby Tears™ is a dense deciduous tree of rounded form with gracefully weeping branches over a long season of interest. Opening from red buds, masses of fragrant, pink blossoms appear in mid-spring, just as the foliage is unfolding. Draped in clusters along the cascading branches, they provide a wonderful floral display. The flowers are followed by abundant, dark red fruits that persist into mid-winter. Attractive to birds, the fruit can be messy if allowed to drop on the lawn or walkways. Emerging ruby-red in spring, the pointy leaves mature burgundy in summer and turn glorious red shades in the fall, adding contrast and color all season long. The small stature of this elegant crabapple makes it a perfect ornamental choice for the garden, including small gardens.
