Noted for its long blooming season, Salvia ‘Ember’s Wish’ (Sage) is a woody-based perennial featuring showy spikes of bright fiery-orange and coral flowers emerging from papery, dusty rose bracts. Blooming from spring to frost, the blossoms rise along dark burgundy stems, well above the foliage of mid-green glossy leaves. The blossoms do not fade in the heat and provide a welcome splash of color to the landscape. Easy and fast-growing, this plant is a favorite of butterflies and hummingbirds. An excellent Salvia cultivar for a container or in border plantings. Does not require pruning or deadheading.

  • Tender, this plant is hardy to zone 9 and is generally treated as an annual in cooler areas.
  • Grows with a slightly open habit, up to 3-4 feet tall (90-120 cm) and 3 ft. wide (90 cm).
  • Enjoys full sun in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils. Tolerates some shade in hot climates.
  • Deer resistant, heat and drought tolerant.
  • No pruning required, but removing faded flower stems will prolong flowering.
