Cytisus - Brooms

Cytisus (Broom) can be deciduous or evergreen shrubs native to open sites in Europe, western Asia and North Africa. Prostrate or erect in growth habit, they produce masses of brightly colored, pea-like flowers in spring or summer, which are often highly fragrant. Tolerating wind, seashore conditions, these tough and showy shrubs are perfect for challenging spots such as dunes or dry hillsides. Some reseeds readily (Scotch Broom) and can be invasive.
