Melaleuca

Melaleuca is a genus of nearly 300 species with of plants in the myrtle family, Myrtaceae. Ranging from small shrubs to large trees, their flowers generally occur in dense colorful spikes that resemble bottlebrushes. An important food source for insects, birds, and mammals, many are popular garden plants, either for their attractive flowers or as dense screens Most melaleucas are endemic to Australia, with a few also occurring in Malesia.
