Introducing ornamental grasses in borders always adds dynamism and contrast. This Gold Medal plant combination, named 'Grasses with Grace' at the RHS Flower Show Tatton Park is a perfect example of it. Long-lasting and low maintenance, this summer border will gracefully extend its charm into fall. Fairly easy to replicate, it includes the rich red and gold blossoms of Sneezeweed (Helenium), the prominent purple-violet flower spikes of Anise Hyssop (Agastache), the fuzzy caterpillar-like pink flowers of Japanese Burnet (Sanguisorba obtusa). All of these ingredients associate well with the upright, flexible Purple Moor Grass (Molinia caerulea subsp. arundinacea), which sway in the wind and give movement to the overall planting. Finally, adding height and beautifully complementing this planting is the unique Feather Reed Grass (Calamagrostis x acutiflora).
