Trifolium repens (White Clover) is a creeping perennial bearing a profusion of rounded heads of creamy white flowers. Blooming from spring to fall, they are borne on long stalks above a lush foliage of rounded, rich green leaves, usually with 3 leaflets (trifoliate), sometimes 4 if you are lucky. The leaves often display a white mark in the form of a chevron. Mat-forming, White Clover spreads aggressively by creeping stems. Attractive to bees and butterflies, it is a good forage plant for livestock and is valued for its high protein content. Perfect for prairies and meadows, White clover fixes nitrogen and adds nutrients that improve the soil.
