A Long-Lasting Summer Garden Idea with Marigold and Sage

Plant Combinations, Summer Gardens

Plant Combinations, Summer Gardens, Marigold, Sage, Canna Lily, Dusty Miller

This summer garden idea combines easy-to-grow annuals and perennials in a lovely mix of forms and colors. Blooming all summer long, the bright orange flowers of Tagetes patula (Marigold) are beautifully combined with the rich violet-blue flower spikes of Salvia farinacea ‘Victoria’ (Mealy Cup Sage). Grown for its striking foliage, Jacobaea maritima or Senecio cineraria (Dusty Miller) is a bushy perennial or subshrub with silvery, finely textured, dissected leaves, sometimes with a lace-like appearance. Attractive throughout the growing season, it is striking in the night garden and perfect to soften color contrasts in the landscape.

Rich in nectar, most plants attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinating insects.

All plants are deer-resistant, drought-tolerant, and low maintenance. Most make lovely fresh bouquets to be enjoyed at home!
