Gravel and Rock Gardens - The Best Plants to Grow in your Garden
Designed to recreate the free-draining dry conditions of alpine meadows, rock gardens can be expensive to build and labor-intensive. However, a pleasing rock garden can be created and enjoyed even when space and resources are limited, by filling crevices between paving stones or using carpeting varieties at the front of a mixed border. You may transform a soft slope into a scree garden and plant an array of colorful rock plants that will scramble in and over small rocks or boulders. Raised beds are another pretty alternative as they provide excellent drainage and the perfect conditions to grow a rich selection of Alpine plants and dwarf hardy bulbs such as crocus, narcissus, tulip, chionodoxa, allium, eranthis or galanthus.
