A Charming Mediterranean Stone Path

Plant Combinations, Spring Borders, Summer Borders, Fall Borders, Winter Borders

Who wouldn't want to stroll along this beautiful and fragrant pathway where clumps of Tulbaghia violacea spring up between the ornamental grass, Stipa tenuissima?

Fast-growing and versatile, Tulbaghia violacea (Society Garlic), also known as pink Agapanthus, produces rich pink flowers that float atop their slender stalks. It provides year-round interest in Mediterranean-climate settings and will spread into a striking ground cover in optimum growing conditions.

It is interplanted with the wildly popular Stipa tenuissima (Mexican Feather Grass). Prized for its graceful, delicate, and fine texture, Mexican Feather Grass forms a ravishing cascade that glows when caught by the sun in the early morning and again in the late afternoon.

Planted in drifts, these 2 plants form a brilliant, undulating river that is low maintenance and water-wise. Both plants are deer-resistant and drought tolerant.
