Trumpet Daffodils (Narcissus)

Trumpet Daffodils

Trumpet Narcissus, Trumpet Daffodils, Daffodil Mount Hood, Daffodil Topolino, Daffodil Dutch Master, Daffodil Cotinga,Spring Bulbs, Spring bloom

Trumpet Daffodils (Narcissus) are quite traditional-looking with their large flowers, one bloom per stem, and their long trumpets (just as long or longer than the length of the perianth segments). This group offers a wide variety of colors (white, yellow, and dramatic color combinations) and shapes (wide, narrow, or flared trumpets). Blooming in early to mid-spring, they can be grown in any garden setting, sun or shade, or in the grass. Plant the smaller ones in rock gardens and the taller ones in drifts or dotted under trees where they will draw everyone’s attention.

  • They typically grow up to 16-20 in. tall (40-50 cm).
  • Very versatile, these daffodils are welcomed additions to beds, borders, containers, around shrubs, under deciduous trees, or in naturalized areas. Provide spectacular drifts of color when planted en masse or mixed with any other flowering bulbs. For best visual impact, plant in groups (at least 6 bulbs). Excellent as cut flowers!
  • Easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun or part shade. Keep the soil moist during the growing season, but reduce watering after foliage begins to die back.
  • Deer and rabbit resistant!
  • To be planted in the fall
  • Propagate by removing offsets as the leaves fade in early summer
  • Ingestion may cause severe discomfort. Can also be a skin irritant.
  • There are so many daffodil types that they are classified into 12 groups, mostly reflecting the number or size of the flowers per stem or the shape of the petals.
