Brunfelsia pauciflora (Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow)
Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow, Morning-Noon-and-Night, Kiss-Me-Quick, Brazil Raintree, Franciscan Raintree , Brunfelsia calycina
Brunfelsia pauciflora (Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow) is a bushy evergreen shrub noted for the transformation of its rich purple flowers to lilac and finally white as they age. Blooming profusely in spring and early summer, the showy clusters of deep purple, tubular blossoms open to flat disk with 5 overlapping, wavy-edged petals and white throats. They give way to berries that are especially toxic. The foliage of glossy ovate leaves remains on the plant in warmest areas. A great container subject, Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow can be used as a screen or hedge, in beds and borders or as a specimen plant. Native to the subtropical light woodlands and thickets of Brazil, it may be grown in a warm glasshouse or conservatory.
- Winner of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society for its noteworthy qualities.
- Grows up to 3-8 ft. tall (90-240 cm) and 4-6 ft. wide (120-180 cm).
- Thrives in full sun to part shade, in humus-rich, moist, well-drained soils. Because Brunfelsia is a tropical plant, it thrives in a humid environment.
- Generally disease free. Keep an eye out for glasshouse red spider mite, glasshouse whitefly, thrips and mealybugs under glass. Deer resistant.
- Pinch out tips to keep compact.

- Ingestion may cause severe discomfort. Wear gloves and wash hands after handling.
