Native to Europe and Asia, Inula britannica (Meadow Fleabane) is a rhizomatous, herbaceous biennial or perennial boasting bright yellow daisy flowers, 1 in. across (2.5 cm), from early summer to early fall. Usually clustered in groups of 2-3 flowers, each flower features a dark central disc surrounded by scraggly yellow rays. They are borne above the basal foliage of smooth to finely-toothed, elliptical leaves, 6 in. long (15 cm). In 2010, Inula britannica was added to the Federal Noxious Weed List which prohibits the importation or movement of any listed noxious weed into or through the United States.

  • Grows up to 12-30 in. tall (30-75 cm) and 1-2 ft. wide (30-60 cm). This plant spreads aggressively by seeds, rhizomes, or root fragments.
  • Enjoys full sun or part shade in deep, rich, moist well-drained soils.
  • Generally pest and disease free.
  • In 2010, Inula britannica was added to the Federal Noxious Weed List which prohibits the importation or movement of any listed noxious weed into or through the United States.
