Adding a hot punch of color to the perennial border in late spring, vibrant red Papaver commutatum ‘Ladybird (Poppy) and Centaurea cyanus (Cornflower) hover around two splendid Tall Bearded Irises, the architectural Digitalis purpurea ‘Pam’s Choice’ (Common Foxglove) and Allium hollandicum ‘Purple Sensation’ (Ornamental Onion). At the back of the border sits the striking perennial herb, Angelica archangelica (Angelica), providing height and structure to the garden and well-known for its use in pudding and cake decorations. At the front of the border, Lychnis coronaria (Rose Campion) will bloom later in the season, adding grace and cheerful color in the landscape with its  profusion of long-lasting, glowing magenta trumpet-shaped flowers.

Easy to replicate and relatively low maintenance, this plant combination is deer resistant and will put a smile on your face for many weeks!
