Campanula glomerata 'Superba' (Clustered Bellflower)

Clustered Bellflower 'Superba', Bellflower 'Superba', Danesblood 'Superba'

Vigorous and charming, award-winner Campanula glomerata 'Superba' (Clustered Bellflower) is a rhizomatous perennial with upward facing, bell-shaped, rich violet-blue flowers held in dense clusters counting up to 15 flowers. Blooming mostly from late spring to early summer, the flowers are borne atop sturdy leafy stems above a spreading rosette of ovate to lance-shaped, toothed, green leaves. A dashing focal point in the garden, this Bellflower is perfect for a sunny or partly shaded herbaceous border.

  • Winner of the Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society.
  • Grows in sturdy clumps, up to 28 in. tall (70 cm) and 24-36 in. across (60-90 cm). It has a tendency to spread rapidly in rich soils, forming a wide colony.
  • Thrives in full sun or part shade, in average, medium, well-drained soils. Prefers part shade in warmer climates. Needs regular moisture!
  • Ideal for beds, borders, cottage gardens and naturalized areas. Plant in groups for best visual impact! A vigorous spreader, this Campanula is also a good groundcover. Allow plenty of space when planting, or plan to reduce the size each spring. Campanula glomerata makes excellent cut flowers that last up to 2 weeks in a vase!
  • Easy to grow, virtually disease and pest free, this low care perennial is also deer and rabbit resistant and adored by hummingbirds, butterflies and bees.
  • Cut back after flowering, both to prevent self-seeding and to encourage a second flush of flowers.
  • Easily divided in spring or fall.
  • Propagate by division in spring or autumn or take basal cuttings in spring
