Canna 'Cannova Bronze Scarlet' (Canna Lily)

Indian Shot 'Cannova Bronze Scarlet', Cana Lily 'Cannova Bronze Scarlet', Canna Cannova Series, Canna x generalis 'Bronze Scarlet'

Noted for its long blooming season, Canna 'Cannova Bronze Scarlet' is a true eyecatcher with its flamboyant scarlet-red flowers contrasting spectacularly against the large bronze leaves. Blooming from spring to the first frost, its robust growth and extensive branching ensure lavish flowering and a lush-looking plant. Compact, this excellent performer thrives very well in cooler summer climates. It is versatile and well-suited for the border, as a patio plant or by the waterside.

  • Recipient of the prestigious Fleuroselect Star Award for breakthrough breeding. The bigger the tuber, the more chance it will produce larger plants and more spectacular flowers.
  • Grows up to 30-48 in. tall (75-120 cm) and 14-20 in. wide (35-50 cm).
  • Performs best in full sun in organically rich, moist and well-drained soils.
  • Canna Lilies look at their best when massed along walls or hedges or in garden beds where they proudly stand out. Spectacular on a patio, they are well suited to container growing.
  • Very sensitive to frost, Canna Lilies are tender perennials that are only hardy to zones 8-11. Therefore, in cooler areas, bulbs will have to be dug up before the first frost and stored indoors over the winter in a dry place before being replanted in spring.
  • Cannas are largely free of pests but in the USA, special care has to be provided to protect their leaves from the damage eventually caused by the Canna Leaf Roller. Keep an eye out for Japanese beetles, caterpillars, slugs and snails which may chew on the foliage.
  • Deadhead Cannas throughout the growing season to keep them blooming for as long as possible.
