Celosia argentea var. cristata (Plumosa Group) ‘Fresh Look Yellow’ is an upright, bushy annual boasting a profusion of extra-large, golden yellow, plume-like flowers, 10 in. long (25 cm). Blooming throughout summer into fall, the erect feathery spikes rise on stems clad with spear-shaped bright green leaves. Fresh Look Yellow grows numerous side shoots, which cover mature blooms, eliminating the need for deadheading. This tropical plant is effective as a bedding plant or in containers. Like all Celosia plumosa, flowers can be cut for arrangements or dried as an everlasting bouquet. • Grows up to 14 in. tall (35 cm) and 12 in. wide (30 cm).
• Performs best in full sun or light shade in humus-rich, moderately fertile, consistently moist, well-drained soils. Thrives in heat and humidity and tolerates dry soils and drought once established. Plant in a location sheltered from strong winds.
