Ixia 'Panorama' (Corn Lily)
Corn Lily 'Panorama', African Corn Lily 'Panorama', Wand flower 'Panorama'
Ixia 'Panorama' (Corn Lily) is a cormous perennial boasting loose spikes of rosy-pink, star-shaped flowers adorned with a slightly darker eye. Blooming in late spring to early summer, the elegant blossoms, up to 20 per stem, open nearly flat in full sun, but remain cupped or closed on cloudy days. They are borne on wiry stems and rise above the grasslike leaves. This little bulb from South Africa is great for use in beds, borders for fresh cut flowers, and naturalized in prairies or meadows.
- Grows up to 16-20 in. tall (40-50 cm) and 2-3 in. wide (5-7 cm).
- Performs best in full sun in well-drained soils. Water sparingly until the flower spikes appear, then water freely and apply high potash liquid feed every 2-3 weeks until the foliage fades. Hardy to zones 8 through 10 - In colder areas, corms may be lifted in the fall and overwintered in dry, frost-free conditions while dormant.
- This plant is an excellent choice for beds and borders, cottage gardens, Mediterranean gardens, or containers. Makes excellent fresh cut flowers.
- Reliable, easy to grow, low maintenance.
- Generally disease free and pest free.
- Plant corms 5 in. deep (12 cm) and 2-3 in. apart (5-7 cm).
