Flower bulbs are a popular and easy way to add color and interest to your garden. They are relatively low maintenance and provide beautiful blooms year after year. There are 4 main types of flower bulbs.

Spring flower bulbs  

Daffodils are one of the most popular spring bulbs, with their bright yellow or white blooms and trumpet-shaped flowers. They are easy to grow and require little maintenance. Daffodils are also deer-resistant, making them a great choice for gardens that are prone to deer browsing.

Tulips are another favorite spring bulb, with a wide range of colors and varieties available. They are also great for cut flowers, and their blooms can last up to two weeks in a vase.

Hyacinths are known for their fragrant blooms and come in a range of colors from pink to blue. They are also great for indoor forcing, making them a popular choice for winter blooms.

Crocuses are a popular early spring bulb, with their cheerful blooms and ability to naturalize in lawns and meadows. They are deer-resistant and attract pollinators like bees and butterflies.

Alliums are unique bulbs with globe-shaped flowers and tall stems. They come in a range of colors from purple to white and prefer full sun and well-drained soil. They are also deer-resistant and can add architectural interest to a garden.

Summer flower bulbs  

Dahlias are known for their large, showy blooms that come in a wide range of colors and shapes. They are easy to grow and make a great addition to gardens or as cut flowers.

Lilies are another popular type of flowering bulb that comes in many different varieties and colors. They are known for their fragrant and stunning blooms and can add a touch of elegance to any garden.

Gladiolus bulbs produce tall, beautiful spikes of flowers that come in a variety of colors. They are easy to grow and make a great addition to cut flower arrangements.

Fall flower bulbs  

Colchicum, also known as autumn crocus, produces beautiful pink or purple flowers in the fall. They are a great addition to fall gardens and are easy to grow.

Winter flower bulbs  

Snowdrops and winter aconite are two types of bulbs that bloom in early spring, often while there is still snow on the ground. They are a great way to add some color to a winter garden and signal the start of spring.
