Quite popular, Juniperus × pfitzeriana 'Hetzii' (Chinese Juniper) is a vigorous, spreading, evergreen shrub with vase-shaped, ascending branches clothed in silvery blue-green scale-like foliage that gives it a smooth touch. The foliage usually retains good color in winter. Growing 6-8 in. per year (15-20 cm), this female selection produces small, round, blue-purple cones that are very ornamental. Valued for its decorative effect throughout the year, this showy Juniper makes a wonderful specimen plant.
- Grows up to 4-5 ft. tall (120-150 cm) and 6 ft. wide (180 cm) after 10 years. 12-15 ft tall (360-450 cm) and 10-15 ft. wide (300-450 cm) at maturity.
- A full sun lover, this plant is easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils. Tolerates a wide range of soils including clay soils. Drought tolerant once established. Intolerant of wet soils.
- Perfect as a specimen plant. Great for foundation plantings, or hedges.
- Low maintenance, no pruning required.
- Propagate by semi-hardwood cuttings
