Noted for its striking curling leaves, Leucothoe axillaris ‘Curly Red’ (Coastal Dog Hobble) is an evergreen shrub prized for its thick, shiny, leathery, gracefully twisted leaves changing color throughout the seasons. Emerging orange-red, the leaves mature to a dark green before turning scarlet-red in the fall and purple in winter. Clusters of slightly fragrant, heather-like, white flowers bloom in spring, followed by small, red berries.
