Native to the Himalayas, Miscanthus nepalensis is a very beautiful ornamental grass grown for its delicate silky, creamy flower plumes on display in late summer. Arching gracefully above the lush foliage of green leaves, they persist into the fall and remain architectural throughout winter. A very unusual grass that brings elegance and a long season of interest to the garden. A fabulous focal point in the garden!

  • Easily grows in a lovely, dense fountain-like clump, up to 4-5 ft. tall (120-150 cm) and 3-4 ft. wide (90-120 cm).
  • Prefers full sun in moderately fertile, moist, well-drained soils. Protect from excessive winter wet
  • Drought tolerant, it is deer and rabbit resistant, but attracts birds.
  • Very versatile, it can be used as a graceful accent plant in the garden, planted in borders, cottage gardens, or prairie plantings.
  • Cut foliage to the ground in late winter before new shoots appear. Propagate by seed in a cold frame in spring or by division in spring.
