Veronica ‘Blue Bomb’ (Speedwell)

Speedwell 'Blue Bomb'

Veronica 'Blue Bomb', Speedwell 'Blue Bomb', Blue Flowers, Blue flower spikes, Violet Flowers, Violet flower spikes

Veronica ‘Blue Bomb’ (Speedwell) is a compact, clump-forming perennial boasting uniquely branched flower plumes which are reminiscent of astilbe flowers. Blooming from early to late summer, the tightly bunched, bright blue flower spikes are comprised of hundreds of individual flowers. Since the blossoms gradually open from the base of the spikes to the top, the display is exceptionally long-lasting. They float above a bushy foliage mound of dark green leaves. Can be used in mass plantings, mixed borders or in containers. Perfect for small gardens.

  • Grows in bushy, upright clumps, up to 12-15 in. tall (30-37 cm) and 18-24 in, wide (45-60 cm).
  • Performs best in full sun or part shade, in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils.
  • Perfect choice for borders, cottage gardens or containers. The unique flower plumes can be used as cut flowers.
  • Veronica are susceptible to aphids, whiteflies, Botrytis and powdery mildew.
  • Attractive to butterflies, but resistant to rabbit and deer.
  • Remove spent flowers to promote additional blooms. Shear back the foliage if it becomes worn-looking after flowering.
