Grown for its particularly attractive foliage, award-winner Brunnera macrophylla ‘Jack Frost’ features large, heart-shaped silver leaves edged and veined with green and clouds of tiny, pale blue, airy flowers in spring. Resembling hostas, the basal foliage forms a dense and lush mound, which remains attractive throughout the growing season.

  • Won the prestigious Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society for its noteworthy qualities
  • Clump-forming, this deciduous perennial slowly spreads by creeping rhizomes and grows up to 12-18 in. tall and wide (30-45 cm).
  • Fairly resilient to most pests and diseases, deer and rabbit resistant, and is easy to care for.
  • A part shade or full shade lover, it thrives in organically rich, moist, and well-drained soils. Dry soils are to be avoided! A cool site in partial shade or shade is preferred.
  • A remarkably low-maintenance plant, this excellent performer may be used as a specimen plant or massed as a ground cover. Perfect for beds and borders, banks and slopes, or underplanting shrubs and roses.
  • Propagate by division in early spring or take root cuttings in winter
  • Deadhead after flowering if self-seeding is not desired.
  • Pruning is essential for good looks and health. Promptly remove unsightly foliage, whether damaged from sun, drought, or pests.
