A Pretty Spring Border Idea with Hellebore, Siberian Bugloss and Grasses

Plant Combinations, Flowerbeds Ideas, Winter Borders, Spring Borders

Get your winter landscape to burst into vivid life! Remember to plant a few Hellebores. Prized for their abundant winter or early spring blooms and attractive foliage, Hellebores (Helleborus) are invaluable additions to the shade garden and provide gardeners with some of the greatest pleasures in winter. Ranked by some as amongst the top 10 high-performance perennials, these harbingers of spring are tough, cold-hardy, deer or rabbit resistant and easy to grow perennials.

Featured in this garden is Helleborus x nigercors 'HGC Green Corsican', a gorgeous Lenten Rose with large, creamy white flowers adorned with crowns of showy golden-yellow stamens. Unlike most hellebores, the flowers face outward attracting interest. An early spring bloomer, with blooms appearing as early as February, 'HGC Green Corsican' results from a cross between two European species, Helleborus niger (Christmas Rose) and Helleborus argutifolius (Corsican Hellebore). A very desirable Hellebore that is tough, very floriferous and perfect to brighten the shade garden!

Showy and long-lasting, Hellebore 'Green Corsican' looks terrific when combined with the airy blue blossoms of Brunnera macrophylla (Siberian Bugloss) and the bright gold foliage of Hakonechloa Macra 'Aureola' (Hakone Grass).

A low maintenance and deer resistant plant combination to bring cheerful color to your spring garden. Enjoy!
