Campanula glomerata var. acaulis (Clustered Bellflower)
Dwarf Clustered Bellflower
Campanula glomerata var. acaulis (Clustered Bellflower) is a low-growing spreading perennial with upward facing, bell-shaped, deep-purple flowers held in dense clusters. Blooming mostly from late spring to early summer, the flowers are borne atop sturdy leafy stems above a spreading rosette of ovate to lance-shaped, dark green leaves. Perfect for edging, this Bellflower is also well-suited to containers or rock gardens.
- Grows in sturdy clumps, up to 6-8 in. tall (15-20 cm) and 12-24 in. wide (30-60 cm). It has a tendency to spread rapidly in rich soils.
- Thrives in full sun or part shade, in average, medium, well-drained soils. Prefers part shade in warmer climates. Needs regular moisture!
- Ideal for beds, borders, cottage gardens, rock gardens or containers.
- Easy to grow, virtually disease and pest free, this low care perennial is also deer and rabbit resistant and adored by hummingbirds, butterflies and bees.
- Cut back after flowering, both to prevent self-seeding and to encourage a second flush of flowers.
- Easily divided in spring or fall.
- Propagate by division in spring or autumn or take basal cuttings in spring
