Campanula takesimana (Korean Bellflower)

Korean Bellflower

Campanula takesimana, Korean Bellflower, Pink flowers, Pink Campanula

A striking native of Korea, Campanula takesimana (Korean Bellflower) is a vigorously-spreading perennial with gracefully arching stems bearing long bell-shaped, drooping, satiny creamy-white flowers flushed with lilac-pink and adorned with dark speckles inside. Blooming from mid to late summer, the pendant flowers dangle above a lush foliage of large, heart-shaped, glossy, mid-green leaves. Fast spreading, this interesting Bellflower is perfect as a groundcover or in areas where it will not overtake valued plants. Semi-evergreen in mild winter areas.

  • Grows up to 18-30 in. tall (45-75 cm) and 36-48 in. wide (90-120 cm). Can spread vigorously by both self-seeding and underground rhizomes in optimal growing conditions.
  • Thrives in full sun or part shade, in average, medium, well-drained soils. Prefers part shade in warmer climates. Needs regular moisture!
  • Ideal for beds, borders, banks and slopes, cottage gardens or naturalized areas.
  • Easy to grow, virtually disease and pest free, this plant is low care and deer resistant.
  • Cut back after flowering.
  • Propagate by division in spring or autumn or take basal cuttings in winter
  • Divide clumps in fall every 3-4 years.
  • Native to Korea
