Convolvulus althaeoides (Mallow Bindweed)

Mallow Bindweed

Convolvulus Althaeoides, Mallow Bindweed, Mediterranean Plants, Drought Tolerant plant, Perennial Plant, Pink Flowers

Native to the Mediterranean region, Convolvulus althaeoides (Mallow Bindweed) is an attractive perennial with long, trailing, silvery stems, clothed in a lacy silvery foliage of heart-shaped leaves. Twisting and twining, the stems throw out large, trumpet-shaped, ice-pink flowers, 1-2 in. across (2-5 cm), from mid-summer to fall. Either used as a climbing or trailing perennial plant, Mallow Bindweed has roots that spread as fast as its silvery stems and may become invasive in mild climate areas. Be careful or adopt a container!

  • Grows up to 2 in. tall (5 cm) with an indefinite spread.
  • Easily grown in light, well-drained soils, with occasional watering in full sun. Drought tolerant once established.
  • Great for Mediterranean gardens, rock gardens or containers.
  • Virtually disease free.
