Convolvulus althaeoides (Mallow Bindweed)

Mallow Bindweed

Native to the Mediterranean region, Convolvulus althaeoides (Mallow Bindweed) is an attractive perennial with long, trailing, silvery stems, clothed in a lacy silvery foliage of heart-shaped leaves. Twisting and twining, the stems throw out large, trumpet-shaped, ice-pink flowers, 1-2 in. across (2-5 cm), from mid summer to fall. Either used as a climbing or trailing perennial plant, Mallow Bindweed enjoys roots that spread as fast as its silvery stems and may become invasive in mild climate areas. Be careful or adopt a container!

  • Grows up to 2 in. tall (5 cm) with an indefinite spread.
  • Easily grown in light, well-drained soils, with occasional watering in full sun. Drought tolerant once established.
  • Great for Mediterranean gardens, rock gardens or containers.
  • Virtually disease free.
