Coreopsis 'Sienna Sunset' (Tickseed)
Tickseed 'Sienna Sunset', 'Sienna Sunset' Tickseed, Coreopsis verticillata 'Sienna Sunset'
Hardy and highly floriferous, Coreopsis 'Sienna Sunset' is a charming perennial forming a compact mound of finely divided, threadleaf-type, deep green foliage. Blooming profusely from early through late summer, it gets covered with large, daisy-like flowers in ravishing shades of warm apricot overlaid with burnt sienna. As they age, the flowers fade to rich salmon. A sport of Coreopsis 'Creme Brulee', this selection remains fresh looking and healthy all season and provides unbeatable color impact in the garden.
- Grows up to 16-20 in. tall (40-50 cm) and 35 in. wide (88 cm).
- Prefers full sun but tolerates partial shade (specifically in hot summer areas) and enjoys dry to medium moisture, and well-drained soils. Thrives in poor, sandy or rocky soils and is drought and deer tolerant.
- Easy to grow, unfussy, and relatively low maintenance, this Coreopsis is a favorite of bees and butterflies.
- A welcomed addition to the front of borders, cottage gardens, or containers.
- Midsummer shearing (after the first flush of flowers) will keep this plant looking its best all season.
- Coreopsis, commonly known as Tickseed, is a favorite of many gardeners thanks to the bright colors of their flowers and their ability to put up with most garden soils. There are over 100 species available and countless hybrids. Most of them are low maintenance, drought tolerant and enjoy long blooming seasons. Workhorse perennials in the sunny borders, they make excellent cut flowers.
