Lavender-blue daisies blend beautifully with many roses, creating scenes that shine with living colors. Here, the fragrant, fully double blossoms of English Rose ‘Wisley 2008’, bred by David Austin, agreeably combine their pure soft pink rosettes with one of the most popular asters today, Aster x frikartii ‘Monch’. This hybrid Aster combines the large flowers of Aster amellus (Italian Aster) with the long blooming season (up to 8 weeks) of Aster thomsonii (Himalayan Aster). Filled with blue-violet blooms surrounding showy yellow-orange centers that flower from summer through fall, this billowing perennial weaves and knits well with companion plants such as roses.  What a nice backdrop for any rose’s portrait!
