Showy Goldeneye, Viguiera multiflora
Heliomeris multiflora (Showy Goldeneye) is a showy perennial forming an upright clump of stiff stems boasting sunflower-like flowers, 1.5 in. across (4 cm), from midsummer to fall. Each blossom features golden yellow rays surrounding a bronze-yellow center disk. They are visited by butterflies, birds and other pollinating insects. The stems are clad with broadly to narrowly lance-shaped, slightly toothed leaves, 1-3 in. long (2-7 cm). Native to Mexico and the western United States from Montana to Jalisco, Showy Goldeneye is a valuable addition to the landscape with its profusion of bright glowing daisies over a long season. This is an undemanding plant which provides excellent, midsummer color. Hardy and easy to grow, it is a beautiful garden perennial for dry to moderately moist sites.
