Juniperus communis 'Suecica Aurea' (Swedish Juniper) is a narrow, pillar-shaped evergreen shrub forming a splendid exclamation point in the landscape. Its dense and compact erect branches bear short, prickly, bright golden needles in summer, changing to a greenish gold as the season progresses. This showy cultivar is ideal for providing year-round structure. It makes a wonderful specimen plant, adds accent vertical lines to the landscape. Perfect for hedges and windbreaks.
- Grows up to 3-5 ft. tall (90-150 cm) and 1-2 ft. wide (30-60 cm).
- A full sun to part shade lover, this plant is easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils. Tolerates a wide range of soils including poor soils. Drought tolerant once established.
- Perfect as a specimen plant, for foundation plantings, rock gardens, or containers.
- Low maintenance, no pruning required.
- Propagate by semi-hardwood cuttings
