Leptospermum scoparium ‘Snow White’ (Tea Tree) is a compact-rounded, densely branched, evergreen shrub with small, aromatic (when crushed), needle-like, gray-green leaves often tinged with pink in cool weather. In late spring and early summer, a profusion of pure white fully double flowers adorned with green centers are borne along the stems. Attractive to bees, they give way to small woody capsules containing tiny seeds, that hang on for a long time after the petals drop. Adding ornamental appeal to the landscape, this is a remarkable shrub for the sunny border or containers.

  • Grows up to 4-5 ft. tall and wide (120-150 cm).
  • Easily grown in slightly acid, fertile, well-drained soils in full sun or light shade. Provide a sheltered, warm, sunny site. Young plants appreciate a consistently moist soil, but established plants prefer moderate but even moisture. Tolerance for drought and poor soil makes this plant suitable for cultivation in dry Mediterranean climates.
  • Great for beds and borders, containers, Mediterranean gardens, gravel and rock gardens.
  • Virtually disease and pest free. Root rot may occur in overly moist soils. Deer resistant
  • Propagate by semi-hardwood cuttings.
  • Minimal pruning required. Prune after flowering to maintain shape and encourage bushier, more floriferous growth. Never cut into bare wood as new growth is unlikely to sprout.
