Oxalis ‘Charmed Wine’ (Shamrock) is an eye-catching perennial, usually grown as an annual, forming a lush mound of velvety, violet-purple, shamrock-shaped leaves. From mid-spring to late summer, the handsome foliage is topped by delicate, pinkish-white flowers. Easy to grow, this Shamrock provides a great statement in shady areas and can be used as a houseplant year-round. A colorful addition with a long season of interest for hanging baskets, containers, window boxes, and the landscape.

  • Grows up to 6-16 in. tall (15-40 cm) and 10-12 in. wide (25-30 cm).
  • Easily grown in well-drained soils in part shade to full shade. Tolerates a wide range of conditions, including drought. Under low-light conditions, this plant is likely to stretch and become lanky. If this happens the plant can be cut back to the top of the soil, and it will push out new growth from the roots.
  • A yearly application of fertilizer or compost on garden beds and regular fertilization of plants in pots will help ensure the best possible performance.
  • This Oxalis is perennial in hardiness zones 9-11 but treated as an annual in cooler areas.
  • Self-cleaning, no deadheading necessary.
  • Toxic to dogs, toxic to cats, toxic to horses.
