A Lovely Mediterranean Border with Russian Sage and Lilies of the Nile

Plant Combinations, Summer Borders

Rich in texture and interest, this fragrant garden border features a fresh color palette of blues and purples with the intent of cooling and calming down an outdoor area overheated after a warm summer day.

Present in this lovely plant combination are attractive Agapanthus (Lily of the Nile) with their blue rounded clusters with star-shaped flowers numbering from 20 to more than 100. They open up gradually over a long blooming period, and partner well with the airy violet-blue bouquets of Perovskia atriplicifolia (Russian Sage).

They are delicately veiled by the charming, rosy-purple blossoms of Dierama pulcherrimum (Angel's Fishing Rod), an elegant, evergreen perennial with gracefully arching stems which add delightful movement to the garden as they sway in the breeze.

Plant these wonderful perennial plants near a pool where they can be reflected for double the pleasure.
