Fairly easy to replicate, this interesting prairie planting includes a few spectacular elements which thrive on neglect while providing striking color and contrast for weeks.

This plant combination includes the spiky, silvery-blue, egg-shaped flowerheads of Eryngium giganteum (Miss Willmott’s Ghost), the fascinating steel blue, globe-shaped flowers of Echinops ritro (Globe Thistle), and the umbrella-shaped, pale pink flowers of Sedum ‘Matrona’ showing off atop sturdy ruby stems.

Fast-growing with bumblebees and butterflies dancing in attendance, all these perennial plants are low maintenance, pest and disease-free, deer and drought-tolerant, and make excellent cut flowers. As an added bonus, these strong performers are recipients of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society. Enjoy!
