A Pretty Spring Border Idea with Rhododendrons and Tulips

Spring Borders, Bulb Combinations, Perennial Combinations

Spring Borders, Bulb Combinations, Perennial Combinations, Rhododendron luteum, yellow azalea, Tulip World Expression, Spring bulbs, Spring Flowers, spring Bulb Combination

Rhododendrons and tulips can create a brilliant show of flowers early in the season, before the roses and annual plants eclipse all the beauties of the garden.

Here, Rhododendron luteum (Pontic Azalea) adds a bold splash of color with its large, bright golden-yellow floral trusses. In late spring to early summer, the air around the flowers is delightfully scented, making this Azalea a valuable addition near a patio and around the home.

It is underplanted with award-winning Tulip ‘World Expression’, a striking tulip with large creamy-yellow blossoms adorned with narrow, scarlet red flames. As the blooms mature, the petals fade to ivory-white and the flames deepen to blood-red.

Both plants have won prestigious awards. Enjoy!
